Some more background information:

The transmitting satellite is Atlantic Bird 3, you will need a digital receiver with a build in Irdeto decoder (IRD; integrated Receiver Decoder) plus the smart card of course. Both are available from your ABS-CBN dealer. Because the direction of Atlantic Bird 3 it different than ASTRA, you will for sure need a new satellite dish as well. The size should be at least 80 cm. Here you can find two website explaining about the satellite: www.lyngsat.com/ab3.shtml www.eutelsat.com/satellites/5wab3.html

Some technical information: The satellite is located at 5.0°West, frequency: 12711H, Symbol rate 30000, FEC 1/2. The signal strength in the center of Germany is 65-70, the signal quality is between 40 and 50. The picture quality is very good, no pixel error and no dropped images.

The adjustment of the satellite dish is not easy. The signal is coming down on a narrow beam, and it requires an exact position of the satellite dish. Depending on your location the above angles and elevation value  might be wrong. First you need to find your location, which you can do with the German Geo database. To find the data for your satellite dish transfer the found values into the satellite calculator from www.filipino-tv.de.

A few words about the IRD, The smart card and the IRD are only working together. They are basically "married". It is not possible to use any other irdeto module with the smart card. It is not even possible to use your smart card in the IRD of another ABS-CBN customer.

One of the features of the IRD is the support of DisEQ 1.2 system. This means you can control multiple satellites with this IRD. So via a DisEQ switch you will be able to hook your ASTRA satellite to the receiver as well. EPG (Electronic program guide) is supported as well, but is not transmitted by ABS-CBN.
